Zero-In Recruitment Marketing Strategist’s Article to Appear in the NEJM CareerCenter’s Physician Recruitment Newsletter

Bloomsburg, PA - Zero-In Recruitment Marketing, a division of Aloysius Butler and Clark (AB&C), today announced that NEJM CareerCenter, the online physician employment section of the New England Journal of Medicine has published an article written by Zero-In recruitment specialist Shawn Kessler in their newsletter, Recruiting Physicians Today. The article, "Demonstrating Your Physician Recruitment Department's Value to Executives: How to Portray Your Department as ‘Revenue Generator' vs. ‘An Expense,'" was first presented in Las Vegas at Kennedy Information's 2009 Recruiting Conference and Expo.

In Kessler's analysis of the current economy he found executive perceptions of a physician recruitment department critical in protecting budget, staff and department-leading him to assert the need for proper reporting of success data to leadership.

"It is important to report your facility's gross revenue attributed to the physicians you recruited, along with the amount of revenue that your department is bringing into the healthcare system," Kessler said. "Proving the value of your department to executives through proper data collection and reporting stresses that the recruitment of well-respected and qualified physicians generates greater gross revenue for the organization as a whole."

The article tells recruitment leaders how to develop and properly report recruitment success data. Kessler recommends sending a monthly report to leadership detailing open positions, the recruitment status for those positions and a list of all potential candidates. This report is particularly useful when a recruitment department is faced with delayed executive cooperation on a campaign. Kessler further suggests developing a recap report at the end of every fiscal year, showcasing the value of the department-and the amount of revenue generated.

Kessler's article focuses on how to successfully present a physician recruitment department to executives as a revenue producer, rather than just a cost conserver. Most recruitment leaders focus on reporting how much money they have saved, rather than how much revenue they have generated. Aside from actually recruiting physicians, appropriately reporting success data to senior executives is the most important skill needed in a recruitment department.
